Our Approach to Pilot Training

In Eurowings we try to combine quality personalised training with competitive rates. We cannot and we do not intend to provide the less expensive solution for PPL training in the market as this would probably mean:

- using a conventional two-seater trainer instead of our four seater Cessna 172 Superhawk throughout the training, with its low time, increased horsepower (180HP) engine combining advanced performance characteristics with flight safety for both students and instructors,

- using mogas instead of the considerably more expensive avgas for all our flights,

- operating from a local airfield instead of an international 24/7 airport with full navaids and strict procedures to be followed by flight crews, thus contributing to the familiarisation of trainees with operating conditions encountered in most European airports,

- introducing "hidden costs" in our training program such as parking/landing fees, ground handling charrges, additional internal exam or checkride fees, etc. to keep our advertised program cost as low as possible,

- avoiding "uneccessary" maintenance risking the aeroplane to be on ground when it should be flying,

- using low experience instructors in an attempt to minimise costs,

- relying on standard textbooks rather than investing in e-learning systems and continuous improvement of training content.

All the above and many more may assist in training cost reduction but certainly negatively influence quality of training.

Furthermore, we think that when a young or an older person decides to invest to become a pilot he or she takes this decision for a reason ....to fly with friends or family....to use an aeroplane for his business activities....to become an airline pilot, etc. Understanding these reasons helps us to "personalise" training to better serve student requirements. Quite similar to landings, each trainee is treated in a distinct manner with respect to his or her individual aspirations and needs.

Time Building Programs

To many people a PPL license is not the end of the road. They wish to continue their training at a higher level or simply keep flying, acquire new skills and become better pilots. In cooperation with Greek aeroclubs we provide hour building programs with or without mentoring services. Although we recommend our structured hour building programs (SHBPs) as they provide effective support to participants and continuous monitoring of their progress by our experienced flight instructors many students have opted for conventional time building schemes without mentoring.
Cost of each program is based on the number of pre paid "5-hrs packages" selected by the participant and our "FLY MORE PAY LESS" scheme. Rates per flight hour (HOBBS) with VAT start from 180 euros for the first 15 flight hours and are progressively reduced to 156 euros, after the first 40 hours. Respective rates with mentoring services (combination of DUAL and SOLO SUPERVISED FLIGHTS) are 201 euros and 180 euros.
Quoted prices include:
- Use of Eurowings 4-seater Cessna 172 (180 HP) airplane with fuel.
- Landing & parking charges.
- Insurance for aircraft, participant & instructor (when applied).
- Documentation on airplane's performance and handling through Eurowings e-learning platform.

Flexible interest-free financing

Although money is equally important to us as to many other companies we try our best to match our student financial capabilities with company liquidity. In cases where we notice delays in training due to shortage of funds we encourage students to continue and complete their training adopting repayment interest free schemes which best match their capabilities.
