Overseas Students

A few words about Eurowings
Our company, Eurowings Aviation & Consulting Ltd., is based in Athens, Greece and has been approved by Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA) to provide PPL(A) ground and flight training according to JAA/EASA regulations. Although we cooperate with Flight Training Organisations (FTOs) in Greece and abroad for training beyond the PPL level we are presently focusing on PPL(A) which consists the foundation for any professional pilot training and thus a very important stage in the training of any commercial/airline pilot.
We have our own 4-seater Cessna 172 Superhawk with a 180 engine and full Bendix King instrumentation enabling our students to be trained directly in a 4-seater airplane, thus  avoiding extra charges usually applied by other schools for conversion courses to those trained in 2 seaters.

Eurowings PPL(A) Services
Our services have been designed in a way to minimize the stay of our foreign students in Greece and consequently their travelling and accommodation expenses.
The student can initially enroll for our theoretical knowledge (ground school) services and gain access to our e-learning Web platform (we call it Information & Training Support System, ITSS). Training content is all included there, from theory content and aircraft manuals and notes to flight planning software and maps and exam questions, answers and explanations. In this way our students can study at home at their own pace all 9 theory subjects required for JAA/EASA PPL(A).
Internal self- assessment tests and exams, continuous monitoring and communication with our Ground Instructors through ITSS and emails allow students and us to evaluate their progress and provide guidelines for further reading as required.
When students have covered the syllabus of the PPL(A) lessons and passed internal exams (available on line in ITSS) they travel in Greece. At this stage they attend a 25 hrs workshop with our experienced English speaking Ground Instructors  to resolve any issues related to their theory studies and complete their preparation for the  theoretical knowledge exams organized practically every month by Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA. These include multiple choice questions in English language similar to those found in ITSS.
At the same time students are assigned a Flight Instructor and begin their flight training (min 45 hrs of both DUAL and SOLO local and cross country flying).
Flight training is conducted mainly in Kerkira International Airport enabling students to familiarize with strict airport procedures, enhance their communication skills with controllers and gain experience in a "real airport environment" with 24/7 operations, full navaids and significant airline traffic.  In addition, Kerkira island in the Ionian Sea is one of the most desired tourism destinations as we believe that our hard working trainees deserve a nice play to stay  during their pilot studies. Two other International Airports in the nearby islands of Kefallinia and Zakinthos as well as smaller airports in the Greek mainland provide numerous oppottunities for navigation flights and practicing touch and go's during throughout the training program.
Duration of flight training mostly depends on student's availability for flying as weather conditions  in Greece permit VFR flights most of the time.
Our foreign students fly usually between 10 and 15 hrs per week and therefore can finish their training in three to five weeks. However we recommend that students should schedule a 60 day stay in Greece to have extra time for our workshops and be able to sit HCAA exams and skill test with one of HCAA examiners to get their license. At this time students also attend the English Proficiency Test (required by ICAO) at one of Eurowings cooperating facilities to have the relative endorsement in their license. This  offers them the ability to fly from or in the vicinity of international airports. If they desire they can do also our night qualification course which allows night VFR flying.

That's all. Simple and fast without unnecessary delays. In the end you fly back home with a PPL(A) which is valid in all JAA member and third countries without any other conversions or validations.

What happens next?
Our PPL(A) license holders interested to continue their pilot studies at a higher level can enroll in one of our time building programs. Our structured hour building programs allows them to acquire the min flight experience required for enrollment in a CPL/ATPL course under continuous monitoring and guidance of one of our Flight Instructors. This program enables students to improve their flying skills and familiarize with advanced handling techniques and additional knowledge required for their training at a higher level. After building up their flight experience they can register with one of our cooperating FTOs in Greece and other countries for desired CPL/ATPL license and ratings.

Promotional Offers
Eurowings runs promotional offers from time to time for PPL(A) training and time building activities. These can be seen at the home page of our web site or in the relevant section in this blog.

We  look forward to see you on board in our Cessna Superhawk and share your dream to become a pilot. We always remain at your disposal for any clarifications.
